Family Involvement Hours

A value in the Montessori Philosophy is to teach our children that contributing to our community is a way of life and promotes the belief that everyone should be contributing members to the world of community. Therefore, parents are asked to volunteer 20 hours per family per year to help keep our school looking great. We need help with various projects that improve the campus and classrooms and there are several ways to contribute. You can volunteer time with our:

  * Special projects in the classroom
  * Assisting office with administrative tasks (ex. stuffing envelopes)
  * Parent Work Days (Saturday workdays- one if Fall and one in Spring)
  * Fixing things around the property
  * Events

Additionally, the school is always in need of materials for our classrooms and playgrounds. Every $20 dollars you spend towards buying needed supplies or classroom wish lists items will go toward 1 hour of parent involvement hours. Make sure to log your hours by submitting a Parent Involvement Hours form to the office.

CONTINUING THE MONTESSORI METHOD BEYOND PRESCHOOL

Parents who wish to pursue a Montessori based education for their children beyond the MSMS preschool have a unique opportunity in the Ross Montessori public charter school founded in 2005 for K-8 in Carbondale. 1n 1999, what began as an experimental Montessori program at Crystal River Elementary School, developed by MSMS’s founder Mark Ross, and requested by MSMS parents who wanted their children to continue with the Montessori Method, Ross Montessori is now a thriving example of how a community has truly embraced the importance of successfully applying the Montessori philosophy to modern education.
