WELCOME

Housed on a quiet residential street in the beautiful mountain town of Carbondale, Colorado, Mount Sopris Montessori School is a non-profit preschool that serves around 60 children ages 18 months through age 6. Founded in 1981 by Kathryn and Mark Ross, the not-for-profit school is recognized as an exceptional preschool environment, based on the Montessori Method of child-led learning.

Our Mission

Mount Sopris Montessori School is dedicated to cultivating children’s respect for themselves, their community and their natural environment though the insightful application of Montessori principles. The mission is to provide the best early childhood Montessori education to each child.

OUR PROGRAMS

18 months

to 3 years

The toddler program is designed to lovingly address the toddler’s need for safe, independent exploration

2.5 years

to 6 years

The preschool program offers a non-competitive environment which nurtures self-directed activity and fosters independence

Toddler + Preschool

The aftercare program runs from 3:00 - 5:15 Monday through Thursday and is offered throughout the school year + summer session

Toddler + Preschool

Our summer school program runs for 8 weeks starting immediately after the end of the school year
